Carolina Ascent Goal Animation
Goal: Develop a score animation to be put on the jumbotron for the Carolina Ascent.
The Carolina Ascent are the first ever D1 professional women’s soccer league in Charlotte, North Carolina. I wanted to craft a visual for them that amplified their brand elements.
I started by isolating their color pallet from their logo and website using the inspect element feature within chrome. I then put those assets into a Figma file where I could retrieve the colors and insert them into my After Effects file.
The mountain used in the animation is actually a vectorized render of Cold Mountain in NC as a nod to their identity as the “ascent” and their consistent emphasis on the mountainous nature of the Carolinas. I took a photo from Wikipedia and separated out the features using Photoshop to provide depth when zooming in.
